Most healthcare data centers have applications such as electronic medical records (EMR) and electronic health records (EHR), with clinicians and third-party partners accessing these applications using legacy tools like VPN and VDI. Healthcare organizations need to address the threat posed by external attackers who exploit vulnerabilities in these systems. Zscaler’s Zerto Trust Exchange can replace the outdated VPN and VDI infrastructure, effectively removing the external attack surface for threat actors. The platform uses Zscaler client connectors for clinicians and partners to securely access applications through the Zero Trust Exchange. The traffic is tunneled through the platform, where the identity of the user is verified, and policies are applied to determine if they can access the requested applications. Zscaler offers a modern and secure solution for healthcare organizations to embrace zero trust principles and protect their data and applications from external threats by improving security, eliminating the need for legacy tools like VPN and VDI, and providing flexibility for accessing applications both on-premises and in the cloud.
