Following through on promises to bring greater transparency to the costs of healthcare for consumers, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced two rules – the first aimed at hospitals – and the second aimed at payers. These rules respond to the directives issued in the President’s Executive Order on this topic published in June. The new policy for hospitals requires them to make available pricing information for patients.
